Trip to the Netherlands
Our recent trip to the Netherlands was nothing short of an adventure—filled with discoveries, professional insights, and genuine hospitality. Due to the ongoing aggression from Russia, our path took an unexpected turn. Instead of a direct route, we drove over 1000 kilometers through Poland before boarding a flight to Eindhoven. It was a long journey, but every kilometer was worth it once we reached our destination.
Upon arrival in Eindhoven, we were warmly welcomed by Nataliya Lushnikova, postdoctoral researcher, Building Materials group, TU Eindhoven whose kindness and hospitality made the entire trip feel effortless. Nataliya’s professionalism and enthusiasm truly shone as she guided us to the next stage of our journey—C2CA, the innovative technology hub we were eager to explore.
At C2CA, we were greeted by Sohrab Narestan and Thijs Van De Winkel, whose exceptional professionalism and passion for their work were immediately evident. It was clear we were in the presence of true experts. Their knowledge and dedication to their field were inspiring, and we were fortunate to have them show us their cutting-edge systems.
Our journey took us all the way to the charming town of Hoorn, in the north of the Netherlands. There, we witnessed firsthand the unique equipment developed by C2CA—technology that, to our knowledge, has no equivalent anywhere in the world. It was truly an incredible experience to see such advanced technology up close, and we are excited to see how it can contribute to the reconstruction of Ukraine, particularly in the framework of the Safe, Sustainable and Swift Reconstruction of Ukraine (S3RU) project.
We were also given the opportunity to visit the Research and Innovation Center at Eindhoven University of Technology (TUE). Natalia, who is deeply involved in the research and development of concrete processing technologies, took us on a tour of their laboratory. We were introduced to a wide range of research samples, each more fascinating than the last. One of the most exciting aspects of our visit was Nataliya’s work on recycling wind turbine blades—an innovative solution to an increasingly critical environmental issue. Her expertise in concrete recycling, covering various fractions and material types, was evident as she demonstrated several samples, offering valuable insights into their applications and potential.
A highlight of the trip was observing the production of the final product at C2CA. Not only did we learn about their processes, but we were also fortunate to bring a small sample of the final product back to Ukraine. This material will be invaluable for further research and testing as part of the S3RU project.
S3 Summit / Green and Circular Reconstruction of Ukraine
Eco+Logic, in collaboration with ReThink, has launched the groundbreaking S3 project, focused on recycling concrete into new construction materials. Kostyantyn Patsalyuk (Eco+Logic) and Roman Puchko (ReThink) shared their expertise and highlighted the potential of repurposing concrete waste to create eco-friendly and sustainable building solutions.
Sustainable reconstruction of Ukraine is not only a necessity due to its commitments on the path to European Union integration but also a crucial step in creating high-quality living conditions for Ukrainians. Circular economy approaches enable the most efficient use of resources, ensuring economic development with minimal environmental impact.
The summit focused on implementing the principles of the New European Bauhaus, aimed at creating sustainable, inclusive, and aesthetically appealing living conditions.
ECO+LOGIC actively participated in the panel discussion "Construction, Demolition, and Destruction Waste – What to Do with It?", held as part of the S3 Summit. The utilization of construction waste is one of the key challenges for Ukraine today, as the scale of destruction requires rapid and effective solutions for infrastructure recovery. We had the opportunity to present our experience and innovations, particularly our project on recycling concrete into new construction materials.
The summit gathered representatives from Ukrainian and international organizations, businesses, academia, and civil society. It served as an excellent platform for exchanging knowledge, generating ideas, and developing concrete steps towards green reconstruction.
The S3 Summit reaffirmed the importance of a circular approach in Ukraine’s rebuilding efforts. Projects like S3 demonstrate that the transition to a circular economy is not only possible but essential for constructing a modern, resilient, and thriving Ukraine.
Together, we are building a future that will serve as an example for the entire world!
